There will be no shortage of knockout action when ONE Championship returns for its next colossal event—ONE: FIRST STRIKE—next Friday, October 15.
Some of the world’s best kickboxers will compete on the all-striking card bannered by a clash between #1-ranked featherweight kickboxer Giorgio “The Doctor” Petrosyan and #2-ranked Superbon for the inaugural ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.
“I am truly thrilled for this match. I can’t wait for the opportunity to fight for another World Title, and I can’t wait for fight day to come,” Petrosyan told ONEFC.com.
But the card includes more than just Petrosyan – considered the best in the sport today – and Superbon. The card features the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix, which pits eight of the best strikers on the planet in one tournament.
Two former World Champions in Andy “Souwer Power” Souwer and #3-ranked featherweight contender Marat Grigorian will tangle in one of the most interesting pairings, while Sitthichai “Killer Kid” Sitsongpeenong returns to kickboxing to take on #5-ranked Tayfun “Turbine” Ozcan.
A pair of Grand Prix veterans look to make the most of their second chances as Samy “AK47” Sana takes on Chingiz “Chinga” Allazov and Enriko “The Hurricane” Kehl faces Davit Kiria in another tournament pairing.
For Petrosyan, who won the 2019 Grand Prix against Sana, he knows just how big this event is for the sport and for the athletes participating in it.
With that, the Armenian-Italian would love to watch these stars go at it, but he can only do so after he faces Superbon.
“It is an extremely tough tournament. I know all the fighters involved. Right now, honestly, I cannot predict who is going to win, but, for sure, the best will win at the end,” he said.
“ONE has signed all the best athletes in the 70-kilogram division. This is something that ignites me. But right now, I am only thinking about my next opponent. I am thinking about the World Title and about delivering a great performance.”
