Johnson talks Yang-Rosauro Bout, Rodtang in ONE Vlog

Mixed martial arts GOAT Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson looks like he’s having fun squeezing in a late training session with James Yang, who’s making his much awaited ONE Championship debut.

Yang, of course, is the opponent of Cebuano pride Roel Rosauro, and the two men will battle in the curtain raiser of ONE: REVOLUTION this Friday, September 24.

In a vlog released on ONE Championship’s official YouTube channel, Johnson and Yang rolled together and did a few grappling drills in preparation for the latter’s bout against the resurgent Filipino.

What exactly is the 12-time Mixed Martial Arts World Champion’s advice to his debuting teammate? It’s fairly simple.

“He’s a grown man, and I think when it comes to fighting, it’s just, you know, have fun and don’t worry about a lot of things,” Johnson said.

“I think a lot of pro athletes put a lot of stress on themselves to go out there and perform, but you know all the training is done – he just has to go out there and fight.”

“Mighty Mouse” Speaks On Megafight With Rodtang

In the same clip, Johnson also addressed his titanic crossover clash with ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon that will take place at organization’s 10th anniversary show, ONE X, this December.

Johnson said that the first of its kind hybrid rules bout, which will alternate between Muay Thai and mixed martial arts, piqued his interest. Moreover, being a man who’s always looking for new challenges, it’s a match it was hard to say no to.

“Fighting Rodtang? He’s the Terminator. He’s ‘Iron Man.’ I’ve seen him fight live multiple times, and I’ve seen videos of him eating some shots and just walking through it, so for me it’s a good opportunity,” Johnson said.

“When they made that announcement, for me it was doing something outside the box.”

A lot of people have been wondering how Johnson will fare against the face of ONE Super Series in the striking game, especially since he has three minutes to survive a Muay Thai bout with Rodtang before transitioning to mixed martial arts in the next round.

While he’s not divulging any secrets, Johnson says that knowing his limitations in striking is one of his prime weapons.

“I’m not going to go out there and fight like a Muay Thai guy. I’m not a Muay Thai guy. I’m going to get eaten alive (if I do that). I’m not a Muay Thai World Champion, and I know that,” Johnson said.

“I think that gives me my greatest asset, that I know I’m not better than him in Muay Thai. I’m just super excited about it.”
