What’s Duterte’s gambit?

Duterte is thinking about running for vice president at the expense of everybody.”

President Duterte said that if the presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio runs for President, his tandem with his loyal ally Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go won’t happen. This made Sara say to her father, “stop using me!”

Santa Banana!

One of the framers of the 1987 Constitution, former Commission on Elections chairman Christian Monsod,  said that it would be unconstitutional for Duterte to run as vice president. According to Monsod, the constitution is clear that an elected President is prohibited from running for reelection. Thus, Monsod thinks that if an elected president were to run again for vice president and wins, a self-serving president might have to give way for Duterte to become President again.

But that’s the opinion of Monsod.

My gulay, if you read Article VII, Section 4, it is also clear that there is nothing that will stop an elected president from running for vice president. As for the issue that Duterte doing it to have immunity, Duterte, a lawyer, must realize that a vice president cannot claim immunity.

The question is, why is Duterte coming out with that malarkey of running for vice president, possibly with Bong Go as president?

My answer is to make Sara decide once and for all to run for President come 2022. And that would make him, the President, a self-sacrificing father—is that smart?

Politics is really a circus, a zarzuela. Duterte is thinking about running for vice president at the expense of everybody.

Personally, I don’t think that’s not so smart. Duterte is actually mocking the constitution. He can succeed only in demeaning himself in his last year of his term. Why does he make all these political posturings, especially amid the COVID situation here?

I have become a victim of protocol. When I went to consult my doctor about pains in some parts of my body, I was told to isolate myself from my wife and other members of the household. I am stuck in my room for at least 10 days, eating alone, watching television alone. All my appointments with my dentist have been moved.

Now I know what quarantine feels like.

The OCTA research group said the Philippines may reach a total of two million COVID-19 cases in a few days with the surging cases of new daily virus infections nationwide.

So, my gulay, when the Philippines nationwide reaches the 2 million mark, does this mean that we will revert to the same pattern of ECQ, then MECQ and back again? Oh, God, when will this end?

In the meantime, the impact of all the restrictions and all the health protocols will be so great that there will be an endless problem of poverty and joblessness for the country and back to recession again.

I really believe it’s God’s message to all of us to mend our ways.

A newspaper headline says that it is a go for Senator Manny Pacquiao in his run for the presidency after his inglorious defeat in the hands of Cuban Yordenis Ugas.

Obviously, Senator Pacquiao does not realize that his defeat to an underdog was a message from God. In fact, Pacquiao is now on the top of the world but remains blind and deaf when God speaks to him.

He is the perfect example of a man now still seeking another glory.

Yes, Pacquiao wants to help his fellowmen, especially the poor and the needy. He was once one of them struggling from a stevedore who went to school and ended in the fourth grade. Santa Banana, now he wants to be the President of his country.

How will he answer questions from the foreign press?

This is not an insult to Pacquiao. But, I believe that in making Pacquiao a billionaire, God has given him a chance to help the poor and the hungry. Pacquiao must listen to God’s message.
