Bb. #1 Samantha Panlilio

Come the 57th edition of Binibining Pilipinas 2020, happening on April 17, not a few beauty pageant watchers will keep an eye on candidate number 1  Samantha Alexandra Panlilio, simply because she is the grandniece of the Philippine’s first-ever candidate to the Miss Universe pageant,  Myrna Panlilio-Borromeo, crowned during the inaugural edition of Bb. Pilipinas in 1964.

Bb. 1 Samantha Alexandra Panlilio  is the grandniece of the Philippine’s first-ever candidate to the Miss Universe pageant.

The 25-year-old, 5-foot-6 Panlilio, who was born and grew up in Cavite, went to the USA in 2013 to study and graduated with degrees in Business Management, and Computer Science at the University of California Irvine in 2017. She took a job as a digital account manager in Los Angeles and worked as a senior consultant at her own family’s land development, hotels, and resorts company.

Hardworking and a fighter, Sam, as she is fondly called, advocates building a sustainable community in rural areas, and during this pandemic, she gave a hand in her hometown’s Tiga Cavite Ako, Eto Ang Ambag Ko’ charity project where donations of packed foods were distributed to the frontliners and families affected by the hard times.

“I am very honored and excited about it,” said Sam referring to her being the grand niece of Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 1964 Myrna Borromeo. I joined Bb. Pilipinas because I wanted to challenge myself and expand my horizon. And during this pandemic, I have found my purpose and now I want to be a spokesperson to have something to fight about,” said Panlilio.

On her preparations for the pageant, Panlilio trained under the watchful eyes of highly respected Kagandahang Flores (KF) beauty camp of beauty queen-maker  Rodgil Flores.
