The 27-year-old Ravena expressed his desire to rejoin the training camp of the national squad, two weeks after emerging from a bubble for Gilas in Calamba, Laguna.

Gilas was then getting ready to play in the third window of the FIBA Asia qualifiers, but the Philippines and Doha, Qatar did not push through with their plans to host last January and this week, respectively.

“It was disappointing for everyone. Siyempre, pagod din iyung ginawa. Ang tagal din na nawala sa families. Nandun na iyung kundisyon at mindset. Pero, we’re still ready for anything that might come up in the near future,” said Ravena on the weekly program, “Power & Play.”

Ravena is among six players in the Philippine Basketball Association that were picked to join the Gilas camp, along with CJ Perez, Justin Chua, Raul Soyud, TNT stars Roger Pogoy and Troy Rosario.

Among those who joined the camp were Ateneo Filipino-American recruit Dwight Ramos. Javi and Juan Gomez de Liano of the University of the Philippines were also there with point guard Matt Nieto, Isaac Go, and Justine Baltazar.

Other members of the team were Jaydee Tungcab, Rey Suerte, Kobe Paras, Calvin Oftana, Dave Ildefonso, Mike Nieto, Will Navarro and Kenmark Carino.

Without New Zealand, Gilas will fight for a spot in the Tokyo Olympics basketball games against Serbia and the Dominican Republic.

Ravena said the Gilas camp in Calamba was a reunion of members of the Gilas Cadets, and it gave them a chance to be together again.

“The whole program was set for them. Nakakatuwang isipin na nag-start ulit iyung gusto nilang mangyari sa Gilas Cadets, na matagal silang magsasama,” said Ravena.
