Danny “The King” Kingad is trying to scale the loaded flyweight division, and a win next Friday, 4 December, at the Singapore Indoor Stadium could boost him up the ladder.

Kingad targets big win over Akhmetov
A win by Danny Kingad over Kairat Akhmetov would put him in prime position to face either Demetrious Johnson or Adriano Moraes in the future.

The no. 2-ranked flyweight from Team Lakay takes on no. 3-ranked contender Kairat “The Kazakh” Akhmetov at ONE: BIG BANG in what could be a potential next-in-line matchup.

At the moment, ONE Flyweight World Champion Adriano “Mikinho” Moraes is set to defend his strap against ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix Champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson sometime in the future.

But before they dispute the belt, Kingad and Akhmetov will try to prove why each deserves the next shot.

The pair were originally scheduled to square off last year in the semi-finals of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix, but “The Kazakh” had to withdraw because of injuries.

The 24-year-old from Baguio City eventually faced—and beat— late replacement Reece “Lightning” McLaren in the semis before losing to Johnson in the finals via decision.

A win over Akhmetov would put him in prime position to face either Johnson or Moraes sometime in the future.

Also competing next Friday night is Catalan Fighting System standout Jomary “The Zamboanginian Fighter” Torres; she takes on Indian wrestling sensation Ritu “The Indian Tigress” Phogat in the curtain raiser of the evening.

In the main event, ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing World Champion Roman Kryklia will defend his World Title against Murat “The Butcher” Aygun.
