HAPPENINGS: Cine Europa opens at SM MOA drive-in cinema

This year’s edition of film festival Cine Europa was celebrated in an on-ground launch at the Mall of Asia’s drive-in cinema.

A joint project of the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, the EU Member States and cultural institutions, and the Embassy of Switzerland, together with SM Cinema, the event was led by EU Delegation First Counsellor Rafael de Bustamante and German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel who were joined by members of diplomatic corps and media.

Other Ambassadors of the EU Member States, meanwhile, sent their virtual greetings and toasts.

Czech Embassy Economic and Trade Counsellor Benjamin Ziga and Consular Attache Martina Matulikova.

During the event, guests were treated to a special screening of the German comic thriller, Sweethearts, directed by renowned German actress Karoline Herfurth.

The film festival, ongoing until Nov. 29, features a lineup of movies from 20 countries, showcasing Europe’s filmmaking excellence and vibrant culture.

Viewers simply need to register at www.cineeuropaph.com to watch romance, comedy, and thrillers such as Commes de Garcons (Let the Girls Play) from France, Ženy v bÄ›hu (Women on the Run) from the Czech Republic, And Then We Danced from Sweden, Buñuel en el Laberinto de Las Totugas from Spain, King of the Belgians from Belgium, and Bad Poems from Hungary, among other films.
