IT Learning Hub set up in Subic

Students and out-of-school residents of Sito Nagyantok, Barangay Cawag in Subic Bay, recently got a big boost amid the pandemic when Redondo Peninsula Energy, Inc. (RPE) and One Meralco Foundation (OMF) inaugurated an IT Eswela Hub, to teach basic literacy skills in the community.

The project, backed by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), currently hosts computers, as well as a stable internet connection, which would facilitate the research efforts of its young users.

“We envision the IT Eskwela Hub to be a platform for volunteers to also teach other students basic computer skills,” explained RP Energy CSR manager Jason Gavina.

OMF likewise donated computers for the SBMA-Philippine Red Cross COVID-19 testing laboratory.RP Energy is the developer of a 2x300MW coal-fired powered plant in the Subic Bay freeport zone.
