P&G Philippines has donated 100,000 medical-grade face masks to the City of Manila as part of its 'force for good' commitment to help the nation fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

P&G Philippines was among the first organizations to respond when the pandemic broke out and immediately repurposed its manufacturing operations to locally produce medical-grade face masks by applying its expertise in non-woven feminine and baby care products.

Since its initial commitment to donate 1 million face masks, P&G has firmed up its manufacturing capacity – now doubling its earlier target and donating to more partner health institutions, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and local government units, including the City of Manila.

On top of the face masks, the City of Manila also received 5,000 health and hygiene kits or “BIDA Home Kits” containing P&G’s trusted sanitation products such as Safeguard soap, Joy dishwashing liquid, Ariel detergent and Head & Shoulders shampoo, through the help of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the US Embassy and the Department of Health.

The turnover program was attended by outgoing US Ambassador to the Philippines Sung Kim, USAID Philippines Mission Director Lawrence Hardy II, DOH Center for Health Development Metro Manila Regional Director Corazon Flores, and P&G Philippines President and General Manager Raffy Fajardo.

The donation of BIDA Home Kits is part of the DOH and P&G partnership for the mass-education campaign “BIDA Solusyon sa COVID-19,” which promotes awareness on key hygiene and sanitation habits.

DOH, USAID and P&G identified vulnerable families nationwide and are empowering them to fight COVID-19 with the help of BIDA Home Kits that contain half a month’s supply of sanitation and hygiene products.
