Two more areas in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taguig City were placed under a stricter quarantine status, the city’s public information office said on Friday.

The local government made the decision to place Faculty Street and Romantic Street under the expanded Localized Community Quarantine from Sept. 18 to 30 upon the recommendation of the members of the City Epidemiology and Disease Surveillance Unit (CEDSU) and Quarantine and Containment Management Team (QCMT).

The authorities earlier placed Pulong Kendi 2 and Samasipat in Barangay Sta. Ana where testing continues to find general community transmission in the cluster of COVID-19 cases there.

To further isolate and contain the virus, CEDSU and QCMT officials recommended the following:

• Restrict the movement of all residents in the areas,

• Move all confirmed cases to quarantine facilities, and

• Conduct further testing and active case finding at the identified localized area, making sure to send all individuals tested to quarantine facilities while awaiting results.

Last Thursday, the local government recorded 103 new cases of COVID-19 and 99 recoveries.

The city has a total of 6,413 confirmed cases, and of the number, 5,922 patients have already recovered from the deadly disease as of September 17.

Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano recently presented its facility in Barangay Lower Bicutan where the so-called “Robonurses” or nurses made of robots are taking care of people infected with coronavirus disease.

Dubbed as the Lakeshore Hotel Mega Quarantine Facility, the area is a 500-bed capacity structure equipped with individual sleeping quarters with partitions, bathing area, comfort room, living room, and a robotic medical staff to assist patients in their recovery process.

Cayetano said the Robonurses developed by the Taguig Robotics Team (TRT) will be integrated to minimize hazards for the city’s hard-working health workers.
