The Makati City government recently shut down two more business establishments, this time a Chinese convenience store and a boarding house, for operating without a business permit.

First to be closed was a boarding house at the corner of Metropolitan Avenue and Mascardo Street under the name of Josy Lee del Aguas. It was shut down on Sept. 10.

On Sept. 14, personnel from city’s Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) then padlocked the Sasa Convenience Store at The Beacon Tower 2 at the corner of Chino Roces Avenue and Arnaiz Avenue, Pio del Pilar.

In a statement, the city government said the two businesses were padlocked for violation of the Revised Makati Revenue Code City Ordinance No. 2004-A-025. The actions against the establishments were also initiated due to complaints received by the Office of the Mayor.

“On orders of Mayor Abby Binay, the city will continue to crack down on erring business and commercial establishments operating in the city to protect the interest of legitimate businesses, residents, and the general public,” the city government stated.

Last month, the city government also shut down two businesses also for operating without a permit and for violating the general community quarantine guidelines being enforced to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease.

BPLO personnel padlocked the Casa Bambu in Barangay Poblacion for failure to secure a business or mayor’s permit and for failure to comply with health and safety protocols.

Another closure order was posted against SMD Laundry Shop in Barangay San Isidro for violating Section 4A of the Revised Makati Revenue Code or City Ordinance No. 2004-A-025.

The closure orders were made upon the recommendation of the Makati police station.

Mayor Binay recently said the BPLO is conducting routine inspections on establishments to ensure their compliance amid the pandemic.
