The Manila City government will allot a budget of about P10 billion for more housing projects in the nation’s capital and medical equipment for the Ospital ng Maynila.

In a statement Sunday, the Public Information Office of Manila said Mayor Francisco “Isko” Domagoso made the disclosure on Friday during a meeting with executives from Land Bank of the Philippines.

“Iyong mga squatter, mga walang bahay, and yung informal settlers, in line with our continuous effort, this city government will literally confront land ownership and property ownership,” Domagoso said.

“We want to put an end to it and create more housing, an honest to goodness new era of in-city vertical housing,” he added.

Domagoso said they have initially identified ten more sites for in-city vertical housing projects for informal settlers and Manila City Hall employees.

The plan to construct ten more housing projects is in line with the Domagoso’s “Land for the Landless” project and the “#BuildBuildManila” program.

“I don’t want to lose time. We’ve lost so much time already for the City of Manila,” Domagoso said.

Land Bank Vice President for Public Sector Esperanza Martinez said she expresses full support for the city government’s projects.

“Very, very supportive ang Land Bank, and continuous ang aming support to the city especially under the leadership of Mayor Isko Moreno,” Martinez said.

Aside from Esperanza, Land Bank officials present during the meeting were Account Manager Josephine Cabanela, Account Assistant Reygina Malinao and YMCA branch chief Josephine Lunizo.
