Reigning ONE Lightweight World Champion Christian “The Warrior” Lee said that he wants to test himself against former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard “Landslide” Folayang sometime in the future.

Lee had quite a year in 2019 after winning the ONE Lightweight World Title and the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship. Now he hopes to continue his reign by beating the best the division has to offer.

“I would love to share the ONE Circle with Eduard Folayang,” the 21-year-old said. “I have a lot of respect for all that he’s accomplished in his career, and I think that we could put on a great show for the fans.”

“Eduard is a very good striker and is now rounding out his wrestling and jiu-jitsu. However, I feel that his main strengths are his heart and his killer instinct. He’s the two-time former ONE Lightweight World Champion, so he doesn’t have many weaknesses. I think he’s a great fighter.”

When asked about Lee’s challenge, Folayang was humbled to hear that the current king of the division speaks so highly of him.

“It would be an honor for me, and of course it will be a different challenge,” Folayang said.

The soft-spoken Baguio City native knows that facing “The Warrior” now would be improbable given the current ONE lightweight landscape – though he is not giving up on a future shot at the World Title.

“It’s going to be a very challenging match if I face Christian Lee. I know I am still far from a World Title match, but in the future, I look forward to facing him,” Folayang continued.

“The Landslide” also had good words for the prodigy who went from having just potential to being one of the biggest stars in The Home Of Martial Arts.

“I was very impressed with his improvement,” Folayang said. “I saw his growth as an athlete.”

“It will be a big challenge for me if we face each other. I want to face him, and I hope he remains the champ by then.”
