Laguna creates patient info, contact tracing system

Amid the COVID-19 global outbreak, Gov. Ramil L. Hernandez convened officials of the provincial government for the development of an efficient and accurate data collection regarding COVID-19 cases in Laguna.

In order to monitor the severity and the rate of contraction of SARS-CoV-2, the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19, Governor Hernandez instructed the Management Information Systems Office to create a COVID-19 Patient Information and Contact Tracing System.

The system will serve as a surveillance system that collects essential information of COVID-19 cases in the province of Laguna, featuring a database that will organize pertinent information and put them in order according to Suspect, Probable, Positive, Recovered and Deceased cases. 

The Provincial Health Office is the main user and owner of the system. Its Provincial Epidemiology Surveillance Unit , in collaboration with the respective ESUs of cities and municipalities will be in charge of encoding data to the system, updating the information on a regular basis to help the authorities and health sector analyse the COVID-19 curve.
