Sorsogon Governor Francis ‘Chiz’ G. Escudero is sending a ‘sweeper team’ to fetch Sorsoganons who are currently stranded in other Bicol provinces.

The ‘sweeper team’ is created under Executive Order 21- 2020 which states that ‘stranded persons in various ports and borders shall be assisted in whatever manner by the LGUs in order to ease their plight and situation in this difficult time.’ The team is composed of representatives from the local Philippine National Police, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Governor Escudero received reports that there are around 60 Sorsoganons stranded at the border of Quezon and Camarines Norte provinces as well as in the province of Camarines Sur. Some of them had been in the boundary for two days without food.

Escudero said that the stranded Sorsoganons would be temporarily housed in a designated quarantine facility located in Barangay Cabid-an, Sorsogon City before they are allowed to go back to their respective families.

He added that as part of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) orders of the government, a medical team would also check on their health and they would also be provided with food and medicine.
