The “world’s biggest book sale” is back, and after braving the traffic and combing through thousands and thousands of titles, we present the top five things we like about it, and why those who haven’t been should drop by, too. The book sale is open until Feb. 24.

More books

This year, 17,000 new titles have been added to its shelves from genres including romance, thriller, science fiction, young adult, literature, and graphic novels. Among the newly added titles are 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher, Elevation by Stephen King, Percy Jackson’s Greek Gods by Rick Riordan and John Rocco, and The 13th Reality: The Complete Series by James Dashner. Book sets with further markdowns are also up for grabs.

Amazing promos

Book enthusiasts have more chances to grab great finds with Big Bad Wolf’s Crazy Deals promotion. Two million English books are priced at as low as P60, and brand new titles are offered at 50 to 90 percent off recommended retail prices. Further, a lucky “book-hauler” will get the chance to win the grand prize of a trolley stuffed with books and  P700 cash vouchers by participating in the contests on Facebook and Instagram.

The ‘wholesome’ books

If you want to buy children’s books for your nieces and nephews or even for yourself, the Children’s Section has a lot to offer. Since the introduction of Magical Books last year, 12 new titles are introduced, including two “come-to-life” puzzle sets that have an added dimension of fun as an exciting game can be played through the free app on smart gadgets.

Safety and green initiative

Knowing that no virus can stop our love for books, organizers ensure the safety of shoppers by implementing safety precautions. Infrared thermometers are used to screen visitors and employees before entering the area. Hand sanitizers and alcohol are also available at the counters.  Following Pasay City’s law on plastic ban, Big Bad Wolf encourages visitors to bring their own bag or even a luggage. Eco bags are available for P20.

Partnership with Gawad Kalinga

Believing that reading and learning should be universal, Big Bad Wolf has partnered with Gawad Kalinga to donate books to poor and affected communities in Batangas due to the Taal Volcano eruption. Barangays and public schools are also provided psychosocial rehabilitation.
