Signing the agreement were VIC’s CEO Bede Gomez and Filtrum president François Noël.

“As we continue our business venture to the water and wastewater industry, we recognize the opportunity to expand and improve our services by leveraging on international partners and sharing insights that could potentially change the wastewater system in the country,” Verzontal chairman Dennis Macandog said.

Filtrum of Canada, a water and wastewater specialist, has 40 years of experience in cost-effective solutions for industrial and municipal developments worldwide.

VIC and Filtrum will work on several projects in the country including the development, engineering, procurement and construction and maintenance of water and wastewater infrastructure and related utilities, Gomez said.

“This project development will pave the way for more opportunities to develop communities and ensure Filipinos access to safe and sustainable water resources and sanitation facilities,” Noel added.

Based in Daraga, Albay, Verzontal Infrastructure Coprp. is a diversified infrastructure conglomerate that is “deeply committed to developing the Philippine countryside in a sustainable, environmentally responsible, and ethical manner.”

Recently, VIC said it plans to complete the construction of the Antique Airport Development Project by the third quarter of 2020.

The P283-million project aims to connect the region with the capital and its neighboring cities seamlessly in the coming years.

The Antique Airport development project, which was awarded to Verzontal in December 2018, will include “Green Technology” that showcases louver type window panels, a green roof for better heat, rain absorption and air quality.

The “Green Building” will also have natural plants such as water lily stalks and banana bark, as wall placements for ventilation support.

“Together with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), Antique Airport will be one of the newest “Green Airport” present in the region, following Mactan Airport in Cebu, to bring further connectivity to the Filipino people,” said VIC vice chairman and chief executive Bede Gomez.
