Police arrested a Thai woman and seized P1.2 million worth of shabu from her possession during a drug entrapment operation in Pasay City Thursday afternoon.
The suspect, Narumon Sukkato, 30, was arrested around 12:15 p.m. at a fast food chain at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Pacific Drive in SM Mall of Asia Complex, police said.
Police from the Pasay City Station in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted the buy-bust operation following a tip off from an informant about the foreigner’s illegal activity.
Recovered from the suspect was a transparent plastic sachet containing 200 grams of shabu.
The confiscated item was turned over to the Southern Police District-Crime Laboratory for chemical analysis while the suspect was detained at the Pasay City Police-Custodial Facility, pending the filing of criminal charges against her before the city prosecutors office.
SPD director Brig. Gen. Nolasco Bathan commended the Pasay City police operatives for their successful drug operation. He said that SPD would be more aggressive in its war against drugs.
“As what our Chief PNP said we will focus more on intensified intelligence—driven anti-illegal drug operations. The SPD will deliver its positive output strictly following the rule of law in every operation,” Bathan said.
Last week, police also busted two suspected drug dealers and seized 2.5 kilos of shabu worth P17 million in Las Piñas City.
A team from the Las Piñas City Police Station and Philippine Drug Enforcement Group conducted the operation at Verdant Acres Subdivision in Barangay Pamplona Tres which resulted in the arrest of Jerrymias Suson and Miguel Castillo.
Recovered from the suspects were 2.5 kilos of shabu and marked money worth P1.5 million used by police operatives, who disguised as buyers of the prohibited substance, during the drug sting.
The authorities vowed that the government’s crackdown on drug dealing in the country will continue with the goal of catching traffickers.
Methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as Shabu; Marijuana and party drug Ecstasy are the top three narcotics distributed in the streets and these prohibited substances are manufactured by Chinese, Taiwanese and Mexican drug syndicates.
