For receiving the Seal of Good Local Governance, the city government of Navotas has received a P3.5-million cash incentive from the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The Performance Challenge Fund is a grant given to eligible local government units to support priority development projects.

“We have chosen one of the roads at NavotaAs Homes-1 Tanza for the PCF. We hope this project will help facilitate smooth mobility within the site,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

The city will pave the 87.7-meter road with concrete and improve its drainage canal to avoid flooding in the area.

Projects eligible for PCF are those aligned to the achievement of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, local economic development, and adaptation to climate change and preparedness for disasters.

Navotas received the SGLG in November 2019 after passing DILG’s four core assessment areas, namely Financial Administration, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection, and Peace and Order.

The city has also conferred the seal in 2015 and 2017. It also received Bronze and Silver Seals of Good Housekeeping in 2011 and 2012, respectively.

Furthermore, Navotas received an unqualified opinion from the Commission on Audit for four consecutive years. It is the only LGU in Metro Manila with such a track record.
