Local cinema’s opening salvoFor filmmaker Chris Cahilig of Insight 360 Films, there’s no specific formula when it comes to making a movie that will be commercially successful. What’s imperative is for the film to have integrity and be of good quality.

“There’s no formula in making it big at the tills, that’s why we just deliver the best story and we just let the audience decide whether or not we’ve presented a good film,” Cahilig told reporters during a press conference held at Limbaga 77 in Quezon City.

“It’s a couple of weeks away from the love month. We’re presenting a pre-Valentine special. We believe people have missed a good romcom so our film is a nice opening for the year. Walang bastos, hubaran, children can watch it. Malalim ang pelikula, people can learn a lot of things from the narrative. We talk about love, nature, and family,” he added.

Produced by Chris Cahilig in partnership with Viva Films, Mia tells the tale of a self-destructive alcoholic, Mia (Coleen), a doctor struggling to heal from the tragedy of her fiance’s death, and Jay (EA), who transforms mined-out land into rainforests.
