Cebu Pacific remains top domestic airline

Cebu Pacific retained its position as the country’s leading domestic airline in the first nine months, data from the Civil Aeronautics Board show.

Cebu Pacific flew 9.7 million passengers in the first nine months, followed by PAL Express with 5.37 million passengers, Philippines Air Asia with 3.89 million passengers and Cebgo with 1.44 million passengers, according to CAB.

Philippine Airlines carried 1.22 million passengers in the nine-month period while Magnum Air (Skyjet) Inc. recorded 151,925 domestic passengers. 

The country’s total domestic passengers reached 22.14 million domestic passengers from January to September.

Philippine Airlines kept its status as the leading carrier in terms of international travelers with 5.76 million passengers in the first nine months. This was followed by Cebu Pacific with 4.41 million international passengers and Philippines Air Asia with 1.89 million international passengers.

Astro Air International flew 217,243 international passengers. 

Foreign carriers carried  10.50 million international passengers during the period. The total number of international passengers reached 22.80 million in the nine-month period.

Meanwhile, domestic cargo traffic reached 239.08 million kilograms in the first nine months, with Cebu Pacific carrying 108.75 million kilos, followed by PAL Express with 62.32 million kilos, PAL with 38.52 million kilos, Philippines Air Asia, 23.34 million kilos and Cebgo, 2.75 million kilos.

Magnum Air carried 759,415  kilograms; Air Juan, 95,770 kilos and AirSwift Transport, 475,204 kilos.
