In Regal’s newest offering, The Annulment, lead stars Lovi Poe and Joem Bascon get really steamy. The two, who said they were so comfortable working with each other, are heating up the screens with passionate love scenes that depict the stages of a married couple’s sex life.
“The movie shows sex in the different stages of the relationship of a couple. First is the honeymoon stage when the relationship is new, very intense and passionate. Then as the relationship sours, we show here how they do it. There’s forced sex, too,” Lovi told the press during the movie’s press conference.
“It helps that I feel very comfortable with Joem. We’ve worked several times before and we’re neighbors. Also, I completely trusted our director,” she added.
Lovi said that she and Joem have already watched the love scenes they did for the movie and they’re all happy with the outcome.
“Now I must accept roles that will challenge me as an actor,” Joem started.
“I’m this movie, I had to do many love scenes, which surpassed the kind of love scenes I did in my past films. My love scenes here in The Annulment are daring,” he continued.
The film is a timely movie that tackles the challenges and trials that relationships go through along the process. It is a highly relatable film that resonates with people in relationships. It explores the joys, pleasures, pains, and hardships that committed people experience within the commitment.
Like in many marriages, there comes a time when that union is tested, one way or the other. There will be instances or situations that will occur to test how strong is its foundation and these trials will determine if the couple will decide if they will stick together or go their separate ways.
In the movie, Lovi plays Gari who is born with a silver spoon in her mouth. She is a woman of ambition, who strives to achieve her dreams and succeed in life. Meantime, Joem is Sherwin. He is a simple guy and is a college dropout, who has no big dreams and simply wants to build a family.
Fate leads Gari and Sherwin on the same path and they instantly feel the attraction. Eventually, their lives get entangled in a whirlwind romance and passion.
Deeply elated by these feelings, they eventually decide to tie the knot. A couple of years in the marriage, problems in the relationship come to the surface. Gari’s frustrations and Sherwin’s unfulfilled promises for a better relationship and better life urges her to come to a decision.
But Sherwin won’t hear any of it and tries everything that he can to make Gari change her mind. Sherwin tries to woo Gari and win her heart again, but the latter is determined that the only way that her husband could make her happy is if he agrees to get an annulment.
The film also stars Myrtle Sarrosa, JC Tiuseco, Laurah Lehmann, Dianne Medina, Erika Padilla, Nikka Valencia, Manuel Chua, Nico Antonio, Matt Daclan, Jon Leo, Naya Amore with Johnny Revilla and Ana Abad Santos.
The film is directed by McArthur C. Alejandre and will open in cinemas on Nov. 13.
