Sodexo On-site Services Philippines, Inc., from the French multinational Sodexo, recently banned the purchase and usage of all single-use plastic straws and stirrers for all of its client sites.

Championing sustainable resource use

Sodexo champions sustainable resource usage for its clients and relevant stakeholders in the Philippines.

Sodexo also committed to phase out other single-use plastic products, such as take-away plastic bags, wraps, and cutleries by 2020.

In recent years, environmental groups have targeted plastic straws as a starting point in addressing the growing problem of plastic pollution.

In a study by the UN in 2018, the Philippines was reported to be one out of five countries who produce half of the world’s waste. Sodexo operates in over 500 clients’ sites in the Philippines, including over 30  food sites, across the country and serves more than 600,000 meals on a monthly basis.
