Team APO shines in Fil-Am golf

The Alpha Phi Omega Golfers’ Club (APO Golfers’ Club) assembled a 352 and captured the Fil-B crown via a whopping 43-point victory over Macquarie Links Sydney in the Seniors division of the Fil Am golf tournament at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club courses recently.

The APO golfers, led by president Rey Talatala, Bing Alcantara, Mandy Lustre, Cord Guangco, Jack Punao and skipper Jess Cualing, dominated the field with 93 and 95 outputs at the par-69 John Hay course then pulled away at the short but tricky BCC layout with 89 and 75.

Macquarie finished with a 309 for second, including 87-83 at John Hay and 67-74 at BCC, nipping Fil-Am Golf of Florida, which also pooled a 309, in the countback.

The APO squad, the only fraternity-based golf club accredited in the annual event, also placed second in Am-F with Jay Millonado, Juan Alfonso Abastillas, Alfredo Nasser, Juan Ponce Abastillas and Noel Relucio combining for 79-74 at BCC and producing two 74s at John Hay for 301.

Bibak New Jersey, composed of Soc Suayan, Camilo Passi, Rod Cadelina, Paul Agnew and Faustito Caballero, ran away with the crown with a 330, including 81-78 at BCC and 87-84 at John Hay. Team Na KOA finished third with 295.
