Toyota Motor Philippines starts the holiday season with a much-anticipated full model change of its flagship midsize sedan. By the time this sees print, Toyota’s flagship model Camry shall have arrived in all trusted dealerships nationwide.
Masterfully crafted under the tenets of Toyota’s New Global Architecture, the all new Camry exudes extraordinary from all vantage points imaginable: an overhauled exterior geared towards “Sensual-Smart Confidence”, an ergonomic interior which prioritizes both driver and passenger comfort, and an unmatched array of performance and safety features.
With over 19 million units sold worldwide across seven generations since its introduction in 1983, the Camry is dubbed the “King of Sedans,” whose enduring success can only be matched by Toyota’s global vision of ever-better cars.
The new Toyota approach in making ever-better cars manifests in the eighth generation model by enhancing its agility, stability, and visibility. A lower center of gravity combined with a new suspension system results in the Camry’s sharper response and handling. The strengthened ring structures around its body frame makes the vehicle more stable and sturdy, especially at high speeds on undulating roads.
By reducing the thickness of its instrument panels and lowering the hood, cowl, and beltline, the Camry’s forward field of view is greatly increased to make driving an extrasensory pleasure.
On the outside, Camry’s new styling reflects the design team’s philosophy of harmonizing a bold and distinctive look that separates the model from its competition in the midsize sedan segment. Chief Designer Akira Kubota calls this “Sensual-Smart Confidence”—an approach which seamlessly melds the athletic accents in the sheet metal with a sleek and modern body shape— creating an emotional design.
At first glance, the two-piece front grille and the new character lines set the tone for the Camry’s exterior. Its low and wide stance conveys a more relaxed feel, accentuated further by a sweeping cabin and 18” alloy wheels. The LED headlamps and Daytime Running Lights are positioned perfectly on the prow, equally matched by LED tail lights, dual exhaust pipes, and clearance sonar at the rear. These elements combine to form a tapered, three-dimensional exterior that represents the eighth generation model’s dynamic spirit.
Both driver and passenger comfort are taken into consideration, as the model features a 3-zone automatic Climate Control, with Speed Sensing power door locks and 1-Touch power windows. The Illuminated Entry System also welcomes all occupants into the sumptuous interior with tasteful, high-grade but indirect illumination. Using upscale materials and rich textures, the All-New Camry is able to create a spaciously cozy environment that fuses form with function.
Enjoy a swifter ingress as the premium sedan comes with Smart Entry and a Push Start System that has key-linked memory: automatically adjusting the driver’s seat and outside mirrors according to set preference. Inside the cockpit, the driver cruises with ease through an engaging dashboard that has a 7” Multi-Information Display and the much-coveted Heads-Up Display technology. .
Propelled by the robust and fuel-efficient 2.5 L Dual VVT-i engine, the Camry offers a smooth driving experience like no other. The 6-Speed Automatic Transmission gives freedom of choice through Drive Mode Select, letting you cruise between Sport and Eco modes. The Camry also assists the driver in higher speeds by adding the Highly Responsive Upshift Control and Blipping Downshift Control, both activated in S mode to allow for extremely fast shifting without reducing engine braking and lowering shock. Camry scored a 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, making it one of the safest passenger cars in the market. Aside from its 7 strategically-placed airbags, the eighth generation model uses an Electronic Parking Brake. All variants are equipped with Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and Anti-Lock Brake System.
