Digo Ricio’s big screen version, embellished with a pleasing cinematography and natural dialogues, deserves more audience. Also, the actors, who made this rather familiar story of heartbreak and happy ending still interesting, essayed their roles flawlessly—they made each character relatable through their natural flair.

Starring Yassi Pressman, Shy Carlos, Louise Delos Reyes, Sam Concepcion and Marco Gumabao, the romantic movie reflects a story every millennial can relate to.

In the movie, Yassi plays Shalee, a bubbly photography enthusiast who is battling with a heart ailment. She has had feelings for Alex (Sam) since their younger days.

Alex, on the other hand, feels that he’s a social outcast—an introvert, who spends most of the day talking to the ceiling while drawing some of his favourite monster characters. Everybody treats him like he’s invisible, but Shalee’s attention and affection changes his view about life.

Shy is Jackie. An absolute go-getter, believing in girl power as she was raised by her mother and grandmother, she falls for RJ (Marco), and does everything to get close to him.

RJ is a varsity player and a smooth-talker which is a solid combo to attract girls. He is used to girls falling for him, but promises Jackie that he would never do anything to hurt her.

Lastly, Louise is an adventurous girl named Kath. She perceived as someone tough but in reality, she’s soft on the inside. She meets Dan (also played by Sam) during a time when she’s mending a broken heart.

The characters go from being blissfully in love to failing miserably in keeping their happiness last. The connection of their lives through their broken hearts unravels and paves the way toward acceptance and moving on.

Para sa Broken Hearted is still in cinemas from Viva Entertainment.
