THE Year of the Fire Rooster will bring financial wealth to President Rodrigo Duterte and this will in turn translate into robust economic growth for the country, an international feng shui expert said on Saturday.

“The luck of the country usually depends on the luck of the sitting president,” feng shui expert Marites Allen said during a Chinese New Year reception at the Marco Polo Ortigas. “And President Duterte’s wealth element has just started. It will mean good luck for the country’s economy.”

Allen, however, cautioned Duterte, born on March 28, 1945 in the Year of the Wood Rooster, against possible security concerns.

“This Year of the Rooster has yin metal. Metal would mean guns, knives, assassinations and killings. The President has to be extra careful about security and terrorist attacks,” she added.

Allen noted that previous years under the Rooster sign have not been auspicious to former world leaders.

“Former President Ramon Magsaysay died in a plane crash. US President Dwight Eisenhower suffered a stroke. And United Kingdom Prime Minister Anthony Eden resigned due to health reasons,” she said.

In particular, Allen said Duterte has to be cautious in March, which has yin Water Rabbit that is in total clash with the Year of the Fire Rooster.

For Chinese Ambassador Zhao Jianhua, the Year of the Fire Rooster will bring “strength and fortune” not just to Duterte but to Philippines-China bilateral relations as well.

“The Year of the Rooster stands for diligence and perseverance, which are also fundamental characteristics of a successful person. Believe it or not, Dr. Jose Rizal, the Philippine national hero, was born in 1861, a Year of Rooster, and so was President Duterte in 1945,” Zhao said during the Chinese embassy’s lunar new year reception.

“In President Duterte, we all see a firm champion and wise builder who will carry forward the China-Philippines friendship and partnership,” he added.
