Award-winning actor Elijah Canlas answers questions many people are shy to ask in a video series about safe sex and HIV.
Canlas joins the boys of Boys Night Out (Sam YG, Slick Rick, and TonyToni) in the first episode of SEXducated by Durex. The four debunk HIV myths – such as how a person can be infected with the virus – with hard facts.
The series also features Dr. Kilimanguru (Winston Kilimanjaro Tiwaquen) who addresses need-to-know information about HIV, while Dr. Rica Cruz offers tips for seeking pleasure for couples and singles.
Dr. Kilimanguru gained fame on TikTok for his medical advice videos that are easy to understand and entertaining because of his use of hugot lines and jokes. Meanwhile Dr. Cruz is a sexologist and media personality whose expertise is on sexual pleasure and sexual behaviors.
Targeted toward millennials and Gen Zs, singles, and stay-at-home couples, the SEXducated with Durex video series is a fun and creative treatment to lessons on practicing safe sex. All episodes are available on Durex PH’s Facebook page.
SEXducated is part of the brand’s mission to promote safe sex, as it says, the lack of information contributes to the continued rise in the number of people who test HIV-positive in the country.
The July 2021 data from the HIV/AIDS and ART Registry of the Philippines (HARP) showed that 1,045 Filipinos tested HIV-positive while 60 people died of AIDS-related complications. This means 33 people tested positive every day from January to July of this year.
