Sports nutrition course for athletes

Learn about the relationship between diet and exercise as well as dietary strategies for athletes in the Certificate Program on Sports Nutrition offered by the School of Professional and Continuing Education at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.

This module provides an understanding of the relationship between diet and exercise, and gives a broad coverage on the key areas of sports nutrition. In addition, it will highlight dietary strategies that can be employed to meet the nutritional goals of athletes in training and competition.

Topics to be covered include an Introduction to Nutritional Science; Different Types of Athletes; Exercise and Training; Water, Hydration, and Exercise; Sport-Specific Nutrition; Supplements, Sports Food, and Ergogenic Aids; and Basic Nutritional Assessment.

The course will be facilitated by Tiffany Anne Santuyo and Kristine Dianne Marders.

Benilde offers a four-day Sports Nutrition course

Santuyo has worked as a figure consultant for Slimmers World International, and a healthcare specialist for Dr. Smith Dietary Supplements, advising both clients and employees on health, nutrition, and medical conditions.

Marders, who finished her Masters in Human Movement Science at the University of the Philippines-Diliman, is a registered physical therapist. She is the current chief training officer of the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Ilocos Norte.

Classes will be held on four consecutive Saturdays, starting on May 12, 19, 26 to June 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fee for the entire program is P17,995.
