Like the sleek silhouette and solid construction of its apparel, COS’ first store in the Philippines features minimalist aesthetics, with airy space, lots of light, and clean lines – as it promised.

FROM LONDON TO MANILA. Fashion label COS, one of the brands under the H&M Group, opens its first store in the Philippines at SM Aura Premier in Taguig. Housed in the 380-square meter store are pieces from the brand’s summer 2021 collection.

“The soon-to-open COS outlet will reflect the brand’s design sensibilities – which are geared toward innovation and enduring style, thus the sleek, understated, and classic designs – while incorporating values on sustainability,” the brand said in February.

Months after it announced its arrival in the country, many have speculated where the location would be. The much-awaited opening finally happened on June 25 on the upper ground floor of SM Aura Premier in Taguig. The intimate affair was attended by TV and social media personalities such as Karen Davila, Sofia and Pamela Andres, Liz Uy, Camille Co, Tricia Gosingtian, LA Aguinaldo, and more.

“Opening in the Philippines is an exciting step for the COS brand. We have been hoping to enter the market for some time and I think our new Manila store is a great place to start,” COS Asia Pacific managing director Christoffer Sellin earlier said in a statement.

Designed with the brand’s minimalist aesthetics and sustainability in mind, the 380-square meter store features a subtle angled arched doorway that opens up into an airy space that plays with natural sunlight, while clean architectural lines are juxtaposed with innovative materials to create a space that feels modern yet evokes warmth.

The textured cladding material extending across the staggered walls are constructed of Really, an engineered material developed using upcycled textiles such as end-of-life cotton and wool.

The Manila store debuts with the label’s summer 2021 collection, featuring a series of wardrobe icons inspired by the renewal of the seasons and the brand’s optimism for the future. Pieces are made with quality materials such as linen and hemp for their durability, and repurposed materials like recycled nylon used in swimwear.

Since opening on Regent Street in 2007, the label has expanded across Europe, Asia, North America, the Middle East, and Australia, offering men and women arts-inspired and timeless designs.

To celebrate the opening of the COS SM Aura Premier store, a limited edition repurposed cotton tote bag will be given with purchases over P10,000.
