Hope on a boat

All aboard the Yellow Boat of Hope!

The yellow boats, named Bagong Pag-asa, ferry children from Maluso in Basilan to and from their school.

Children in Maluso, Basilan, who had to swim to school, can now attend their first subject with dry clothes and books as The Body Shop Philippines recently donated cash to fund boats that will ferry them to school.

The donation came from the net proceeds of every purchase of Moringa Shower Gel for a month. It was turned over to the Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation, an organization founded in 2010 to initially help children in Layag-Layag, Zamboanga City who had to swim to school.

Yellow Boat of Hope Foundation co-founder Dr. Anton Lim and grants and partnerships officer Ella Rodriguez receive the funds raised by The Body Shop team.

As a 100 percent volunteer driven foundation, the Yellow Boat of Hope works to improve children’s access to education and make it easier for them to go to and stay in school.

The foundation provides children in need with yellow school boats and other modes of transport and structures such as bridges and dormitories to ease their journey to and from school.
