Do you know the names of the characters on the packaging of Chiz Curls? How about why Chippy was named as such?

Universal Robina Corporation celebrates its 65th year of offering Filipino consumers a variety of snack and beverage items.

The maker of these beloved snack food items shares little known facts about its products, as it celebrates its 65th anniversary this year.

Chiz Curls – It is Universal Robina Corporation’s (URC) first branded snack product. The kids on its packaging are named Carl and Curlette.

Chippy – Since the ‘60s, the crowd-favorite corn chips have been part of barkada trips, school recess, and weekends at home. Jack ‘n Jill named it Chippy because it was sold at a friendly price during its launch back then.

Nova – According to URC, Jack ‘n Jill’s Nova is the first locally manufactured multigrain snack in the Philippines. Each chip is made with four fiber-rich grains.

Maxx – It is one of URC’s first candy brands launched in 1993, and was first endorsed by the late actor Max Alvarado.

Great Taste Coffee – URC prides itself in pioneering the 3-in-1 coffee mixes, twin packs, and white coffee through Great Taste.

Blend 45 – Before the market was inundated with instant coffee brands, URC said Blend 45 was the “largest selling” when it was launched in the ‘60s, earning it the moniker “Pinoy Coffee”.

C2 – This ready-to-drink tea is popular in Vietnam.

Bonus fact: All the aforementioned items and more are available in supermarkets and on Universal Robina’s Shopee and Lazada stores.
