The flat pasta dish of Italy is celebrating its special day today, as July 29 marks this year’s World Lasagna Day.
Usually made with long, thin, flat noodles, layered with meaty ground beef and cheese, and drizzled with red and white sauce, lasagna has long been a favorite pasta dish of many generations—of families and friends, and quite notably, Garfield.
Local pizza and pasta chain Greenwich delivers the meaty, savory taste of this dish with its improved Lasagna Supreme, made more special for groups of friends or barkadas—the consumer market it aims to tap.
“Greenwich wants to be known for its barkada equity. We want to be the place where barkadas come to enjoy our very best pizzas and pastas. We use good quality products, fresh for every barkada,” said Ping Castillo, brand manager for pasta.
Greenwich takes pride in its lasagna’s layers of flavors, or as it calls, “patong-patong na sarap.”
According to the fast food chain, it uses high-quality simmered ground beef flavored with spices, making it juicier and beefier. Lasagna Supreme is also tastier since each layer is filled and coated with cheese, lending a rich flavor to the pasta. Meanwhile, its flavorful red sauce and creamy white bechamel sauce complement the cheese and beef.
