Carte D’Or Gelato: A New and Delicious Way to Cool Off

A new delectable dessert has reached the Philippines.  Carte D’or will finally be available to Filipinos nationwide.  Carte Dor is UK’s no.1 ice cream brand and the Philippines is the first in Southeast Asia to be able to have the premium dessert brand.  It’s uniquely different as it is also the first gelato ice cream to be available readily in grocery stores.

It was a day of sweetness as Chef Miko Aspiras introduced Carte Dor gelato by heading a gelato masterclass last May 2, 2017.  It was a memorable event as it was very fun to be mixing premium and all-natural ingredients to create pistachio gelato.  The event had everyone wear cute aprons and gloves making everybody feel like legitimate gelato makers.  After mixing everything, Chef Miko also explained and used the machine to make gelato in order for it to have a smooth and rich consistency.

After the making the mixture, everyone was given a cup of the three of the four flavors of Carte D’or.  At first taste, you can definitely tell how different it is from normal ice cream.  The gelato was denser since it had less air inside making it feel like it was less guilty to eat.  Despite its lightness, it was still incredibly rich (thanks to the Australian cream added to all of the flavors) and every topping tasted so fresh and perfect for the hot weather this summer.

The first flavor is Salted Caramel and unlike other ice creams with the same flavor, this one just had the right amount of sweetness and saltiness blended together in one unique gelato.  It has a hint of a smoky flavor from the butter and caramelized sugar making it decadent and will satisfy both the sweet and salty cravings a person has.

Carte D’or’s Pistachio gelato is heavenly to taste and a memorable experience for the senses.  The mix of different textures from the smoothness of the Australian cream mixed with a Pistachio puree and the crunchiness of the nuts that were from South Australia and California makes it an exciting gelato to consume.  Moreover, it’s also very pretty to look at since the pastel green color of the gelato is without any food coloring and is from the actual nuts themselves.

Next is the Double Dark Chocolate gelato that is suited best for all chocolate lovers out there. Dark chocolate chunks from Belgium mixed in chocolate gelato are a treat for everyone who craves for sweetness with a hint of bitterness at every bite.  Despite the chocolate’s rich taste, it still is refreshing to eat and enjoy.

Lastly is the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor that was not included in the ice cream flavors everyone tasted that day.  It gave the flavor a sense of mystery as how it would taste especially since the hazelnuts were from Turkey and Carte D’or even added wafer crisps for that extra crunch.  All the flavors in the line-up had key ingredients from different parts around the globe making it suitable for anyone’s palate.

Chef Miko Aspiras looks forward to creating new flavors that have ingredients home grown from the Philippines itself.  Carte D’or is excited to give Filipinos a new way of eating ice cream with high quality ingredients that’s worth every centavo.  The brand would be available on May 23 nationwide and the price starts at Php 295 for 475mL.
