Art for peace

Missionary Visual Artist, Kristine Lim, recently visited Basilan for her first official mission under the Philippine Navy as a soldier.

The Naval Reserve Public Affairs Unit (NRPAU) Ambassadors visited Pilas Island, Hadji Muhtamad Municipality, Basilan Province for the conduct of the All-in-One Medical Mission. The activity was able to undertake and provide the services for residents of the isle: medical and dental assistance, giving of reading eyeglasses, cataract and cleft lip profiling, free haircut, gift giving including toys and grocery goods, art and craft lessons for children, musical ensemble, and symposium with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pilas Island together with private and public stakeholders from various sectors of society.

The event was graced by NRPAU Ambassadors, Miss Philippines World Beauty Queen 2016, IT1 Kristine Joy Ocampo Cruz PN(Res) and sister, Brand Ambassador, PO3 Ninna Ricci Cruz PN(Res), Artist On A Mission Founder, CMO2 Kristine Lim PN(Res), and GMA Kapuso Celebrity, PO2 JC Tiuseco PN(Res).

Further, the children from the said barangay participated in the Art for Peace conducted by volunteers from MHVP together with, renowned Missionary Visual Artist, CMO2 Kristine Ann S Lim PN(Res).

Additionally, notable sponsors who supported the event namely Pediatrica Inc, Integrated Resource Development for Tri-People, Team Handog Aguila, MLhuiller, One World Foundation, JCI, and McDonald House Foundation from BGEN Rodylyn T. Manzano PN(M)(RES) and regular military personnel, doctors, nurses, and volunteers also took part in the mission who brought and transport food, equipment, medicines, hygiene kits, and other essential items for donation to the Mayor of Hadji Muhtamad Municipality, Hon Mayor Arsina Kahing-Nanoh and Basilan Governor Jim Hataman Salliman.

Despite the remote location of the activity, NRPAU Ambassadors devoted their time, unwavering efforts, and initiative to participate and extend a helping hand to those who require relief efforts and medical attention for residents of Pilas Island. More or less 1,500 beneficiaries received assistance at the event that greatly boosted the morale and welfare of the residents coming from the ten barangays of Hadji Muhtamad Municipality.

The activity was made possible through the support of Acting Commander, Naval Forces Western Mindanao, Capt Dwight Steven M. Dulnoan PN; Commander, Naval Reserve Command, BGEN Joseph Ferrous S. Cuison PN(M), and Flag Officer In Command, Philippine Navy, Radm Toribio D. Adaci, Jr. PN. The Philippine Navy marks its presence at Pilas Island as an advocate to sustain and strengthen the maritime security of the area and promote socio-economic development.
