Tech brand encourages public to ‘make your green mark’

When I was asked if I wanted to watch a Parokya ni Edgar concert, my first thought was “Are you kidding me? I would love to!” My siblings and I grew up listening to their music and suffice it to say, we witnessed how this well-loved band journeyed towards success.

Chito Miranda of Parokya ni Edgar

Until now, the ‘80s and ‘90s kids surely know their hit songs. Yet little did I know that it wasn’t just a Parokya concert I will be going to with my friend Glaiza. The event is the much-awaited annual Acer Day.

This year’s version is dubbed The Green Mark Concert, an important reminder to all of us to do our part, no matter how little, to make the Earth a greener and more sustainable planet to live in for us and the generations to come.

The SM MOA Arena crowd last August 8 went a little bit wild in a good way when Acer Day 2022 ambassadors, led by P-pop kings SB19 performed the audience’s favorites to the delight of everyone. Not surprisingly, the huge crowd maintained the energy from start to finish, unaware of the pouring rain outside. #AcerDay2022, in fact, trended locally and worldwide on Twitter and had over 2.4 million views on TikTok.

What Acer did was instead of selling tickets to the concert, the company enjoined fans to do sustainable acts, such as buying products from Acer’s sustainable line, Aspire Vero; donating to GreenEarth Heritage Foundation, and collecting cleaned, washed, and dried plastic waste and dropping them off at The Plaf, a social enterprise that recycles plastic.

With this, the Acer Day 2022: The Green Mark Concert was able to raise Php1.38M for the GreenEarth Heritage Foundationand 20 metric tons of plastic waste compensation for The Plaf.

Phenomenal group SB19

The phenomenal group SB19 opened the show strong with Acer’s song “Live It Up”, followed by charismatic P-pop group KAIA who performed “KAYA.”

Singer-songwriter Adie serenaded the audience with “Mahika” and “Paraluman” while the lovely Janina Vela performed her latest song, “Hello Stranger.”

Predator Gaming Philippines ambassadors and musicians CLR, Awi, and Yow had a jam session while indie rock band SUD performed their hit songs, “Baliw” and “Sila.”

Parokya ni Edgar led by Chito Miranda partied with the audience with the group’s timeless hits, “Buloy,” Para Sa Iyo,” Harana,” Halaga,” “Inuman Na”, and “Your Song.” Lucky audience members got to perform with them for “Pangarap Lang Kita” and “Bagsakan.” This is the part when people left their seats to come closer— albeit in a safe and mindful manner— to the stage per Chito’s invitation, which according to him came with a blessing from the organizers.

Finally, SB19 did not disappoint fans who waited all day by performing their debut song “Tilahula”, hit songs “What?,” “SLMT,” and “Mapa.” They also closed the show with their new song for Acer titled “Make Your Green Mark,” co-written by the group’s very own Pablo.

Other Acer and Predator ambassadors such as Alodia, Een Mercado, Kang Dupet, Amara, Burg, TNC Predator, ArkAngel Predator, Team Secret, Kuya Nic, Chibiby, and Team Payaman were also present to celebrate Acer Day 2022.

“We are happy that this year’s celebration was a huge success but our mission to protect the planet is not over yet. You can still join the 21-day #MakeYourGreenMark Challenge and do your part to help save the environment just as Acer has done with its green initiatives,” said Acer Philippines General Manager Sue Ong-Lim.

Founded in 1976, Acer is now one of the world’s top ICT companies with presence in over 160 countries. It is focused on enabling a world where hardware, software and services will fuse with one another to open up new possibilities for consumers and businesses alike. From service-oriented technologies to the Internet of Things to gaming and virtual reality, Acer’s 7,000+ employees are dedicated to the research, design, marketing, sale, and support of products and solutions that break barriers between people and technology.
