SM scholar alumni pass CPA exams

Four SM scholar alumni are now Certified Public Accountants and are looking forward to better career opportunities. 

Ma. Cecilia F. Cabacoy and Dakila T. Lasuden

Sherwin I. Bautista, Glenn Paul A. Embodo, Dakila T. Lasuden, and Ma. Cecilia F. Cabacoy passed the CPA Licensure Examinations recently and join the list of SM scholar alumni who are now full-fledged CPAs.

Twenty-three-year-old Lasuden from Baguio City is the daughter of government workers and has three siblings. She finished high school at the Baguio City National High School. For college, she enrolled at Saint Louis University.

Quezon City resident Cabacoy finished her high school education at the San Francisco High School located in the same city. The third among five children, she took up Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the University of the East – Caloocan. She is currently employed by Romano Mendez & Company, an auditing firm. 

Bautista, 23, hails from Antique. For high school, he attended the Regional Science High School for Region VI. He graduated from the University of the Philippines Visayas – Iloilo with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy. The young CPA is now working with SGV in Makati. “I once became a tutor,” he said when asked what his first job was. As for his future plans, he wants to help promote financial literacy among Filipinos. “In addition, I want to be one with promoting the values of transparency and accountability. Lastly, if given the chance, I want to start a business.”

Embodo, one of SM Foundation’s ‘Yolanda scholars’ graduated cum laude from the Saint Paul School of Professional Studies in Palo, Leyte with a double degree in Accountancy and Accounting Technology.
