discuss their Innovation stories

Coming from a simple beginning, the company has grown into a multi-awarded leader in the luggage industry with presence in over 110 countries worldwide.

Delsey pioneered many technological developments, from coming up with the very first trolley system on a suitcase to the first fiber glass structure on a luggage. And in recent years, it introduced new series of innovation like zip security technology to safeguard the luggage from being opened by other people, a built-in overweight indicator that tells the user he has exceeded limits, and a wheel brake system.

Now to welcome the new year, Delsey kicked off its three-month long mall tour in several big malls in Metro Manila. The Delsey Innovations Caravan’s first stop was in Shangri-la Plaza Mall, followed by Ayala Alabang Town Center, Ayala Terraces Fairview, Ayala Glorietta, and Ayala Trinoma, allowing the public to see the difference between Delsey and other brands.

These were Kenneth Cobonpue, who’s known for his contribution in the field of design and architecture; Maria Ressa, former CNN field reporter and  ABS-CBN executive, and founder of Rappler; and internationally acclaimed film director Brillante Mendoza.

Cobonpue shared, “My work started as a passion which has become an inspiration, I had a creative childhood when I just wanted to design and had to quit my business management studies after realizing it was not for me.”

The truth is, he wanted to study in the University of the Philippines in Diliman but failed to pass the university’s entrance examination. Later, he found himself invited by the same school as a commencement speaker to its graduating students, “Actually, the world does not need another chair unless you make it a unique one, in my case, I have no formula for inspiration, I simply draw from my dreams, but technology helps a lot,” he admitted.

She added, “What comes next for me, I really don’t  know.”

In recognition of their achievements in their respective fields, the Primer Group of Companies, exclusive Delsey distributor in the Philippines, presented Cobonpue and Ressa with unique expression of appreciation.
