QC dad Hero Bautista’s birthday cake tradition

Birthdays are one of life’s special moments for any individual. Celebrating another year spent with family and friends is always a joy and a birthday cake is always the centerpiece during this event.

This is why Quezon City 4th District Councilor Hero Bautista has been sending birthday cakes to his constituents since he took office in 2016.

“When my father (former councilor Herminio Bautista) would visit the Barangay Captains during their birthday back then, he would bring cake instead of liquor,” Hero reminisced.

He continued this tradition when he assumed the post of city councilor in 2016, giving birthday cakes to the LGU’s Sangguniang Kabataan, Kagawads, and Barangay Captains. He has since expanded the program in 2020 to include residents in the list of recipients.

Today, constituents living in depressed areas also receive birthday cakes, some delivered personally by Hero himself.

“We receive a lot of requests for birthday cakes in our district. Once we have screened the requests and ensured that they are residents of our district, we deliver the birthday cakes and Councilor Bautista himself knocks on their doors to deliver,” district coordinator Rowena Roxas shared.
