Vaccination against COVID-19 for the general pediatric population (12-17 years old) in Caloocan began on Thursday.

Together with their parents or guardians, it is ensured that minors undergo registration, screening, counseling, vaccination, and monitoring.

Only Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are currently allowed by the Food and Drug Administration to be vaccinated for ages 12-17.

“The Caloocan City Government is sincerely grateful to our medical workers, and even to DepEd Caloocan for its help and support, particularly in developing a schedule to vaccinate students in the city belonging to the said age group,” the city government under Mayor Oscar Malapitan said in a statement.

“Meanwhile, our two hospitals, CCMC and CCNMC, are also open and will receive 400 slots each along with online appointments for students who study outside the city,” Malapitan added.

The city added that for parents or guardians of young people to be vaccinated, be sure to complete the following documents for immunization:

1. Medical certificate of vaccinee (for those with co-morbidity or disease only)

2. Documents proving the parent/guardian relationship and the vaccinee such as birth certificate

3. Valid ID of the vaccinee and the parent or guardian.

The City Government continues to encourage parents or guardians to vaccinate their children belonging to that age group for their protection and in preparation in case face-to-face classes are reinstated.
