Veteran broadcast journalist Doland Castro is running for councilor in District 1, Quezon City.
“I realized that I want to serve the people. I prayed to the Lord,” he told the Manila Standard in an interview.
Castro said he is leaving his first love – broadcast journalism.
“Should I win, I wish to devote my time and commitment to directly help the jobless people and to legislate measures related to livelihood,” the ABS-CBN reporter added.
In the past six months, Castro said he has partnered with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority to bring down to the people various skills trainings on livelihood.
“I am happy to report that there are people that I and TESDA have helped,” he said.
“I believe nothing is impossible if I am given the break,” Castro said.
