At least 105 barangays in Caloocan city have been classified as COVID-free based on the last data released by the City Health Department.

This means that 55.85 percent of the total number of barangays in the city have no active cases of the disease, leaving only 83 barangays with active cases.

According to Mayor Oscar Malapitan, from 2,000 active cases in March, there are now only 342 active cases in Caloocan.

The total number of recoveries, on the other hand, stood at 37,304.

Malapitan said he is thankful for the continued solidarity of the people of Caloocan, especially the health workers who are at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19.

“I know everyone is very tired but you are not giving up and you continue to play your role. Thank you very much for caring for the people of Caloocan,” he said.

At the same time, the Mayor warned about the Delta variant and continued to encourage residents to be vigilant by following health protocols.

“Let’s not wait for the Delta variant in our city. Let’s not be complacent, let’s continue to be careful and get vaccinated as much as possible so that we have resistance to the virus,” Malapitan said.
