Caloocan City leads the entire National Capital Region in recording a 96.93% accomplishment rate in the distribution of ECQ (Enhanced Community Quarantine) financial assistance or “ayuda,” the city government said Tuesday.
Based on Department of Interior and Local Government data, more than P1.295 billion in funds have been distributed to 388,415 beneficiary families in the city.
According to the DILG, the accomplishment rate of other cities in NCR as of May 3 was Quezon City (94.96%), Mandaluyong (92.51%), Navotas (90.68%), Manila (88.39%), Pateros (87.69%), and San Juan (80.40%).
According to the verification conducted by the Caloocan City Social Welfare and Development Department, some of the original beneficiaries of SAP no longer live in Caloocan, while others are already in the provinces or abroad.
This allowed the distribution of benefits to 4Ps members, registered solo parents and PWDs.
“On Wednesday, May 5, the distribution of the said aid will start and end on the same day for the members of JODA and TODA or Jeepney/Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations in the city,” said Caloocan City Mayor Oscar “Oca” Malapitan.
Earlier, Malapitan said the use of text messaging and other modern online digital technology in the scheduling, distribution, and documentation system was a big help in the rapid distribution of aid despite Caloocan being a big city area-wise.
The distribution was simultaneously conducted in the barangays through mobile caravans, as well as the dedication and ability of students from the University of Caloocan City, who served as paymasters.
Meanwhile, Navotas recorded the highest percentage decrease in new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases per day among all local government units in Metro Manila.
Navotas posted a -76% plunge in the average daily attack rate (ADAR), according to OCTA Research Group. From the peak of 137, the city’s daily cases plummeted to 33.
The statistics released by the OCTA Research Group was based on the 7-day average from April 25 to May 1 compared with the peak 7-day average of the LGUs.
“We attribute this milestone to the hard work of all our frontliners as well as the aggressive contact tracing, testing, isolation, treatment and monitoring of our patients–from the time they become close contacts to the time we receive their test results or they complete their isolation period,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.
“Also, fewer Navoteños have contracted COVID-19 since we implemented the quarantine-band system and penalized health protocol violations with RT-PCR swab test. This goes to that adherence to safety protocols plays a crucial part in bringing down the number of our COVID cases.
We should continue to be careful and vigilant so all of our sacrifices will not go to waste,” he added.
According to the OCTA Research Group, an ADAR of more than 10 is still considered high.
NCR LGUs need to reduce it to less than 10 percent within the next two weeks to move the region to moderate risk classification.
Navotas logged 1,456 active cases on April 5, the highest number for this year. As of May 2, the city recorded 428 active cases, 331 deaths, and 9,752 recoveries.
