Navotas gives teachers cash, computer sets

In celebration of Navotas Teachers’ Day, the City Government of Navotas turned over computers and gave away P200,000 worth of cash prizes to public and private school teachers. 

Some 123 master teachers received laptop computers and 24 public elementary and high schools got one desktop unit each.

The Navotas Science High School also received 24 desktop computers for their computer laboratory.

Mayor Toby Tiangco expressed his appreciation to Navotas teachers and other school personnel.

“We are fortunate to have educators who go beyond their duty to ensure that our youth get the best education, whatever the circumstances are. Indeed, they are our modern-day heroes,” he said.

“Though we cannot be with them personally, we hope this online celebration will make them feel how much we appreciate them,” he added.

Meanwhile, Rep. John Rey Tiangco also lauded the city’s educators for their perseverance and hard work in designing and implementing the NavoSchool blended learning model.

“Navotas gained national limelight because of our NavoSchool-in-a-box. Our model showed that with or without the pandemic, learning must continue,” he said. 

Aside from the computers, the Tiangco brothers also gave away P200,000 worth of cash prizes. One fifty teachers won P500 each; 50, P1,000 each; 20, P2,000 each; 5, P3,000 each; and one, P10,000.

Navotas celebrates Navotas Teachers’ Day every second Friday of December per Municipal Resolution No. 2006-02.
