Navotas gains top audit grade

Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Navoteños still have something to celebrate and be grateful for.

The City Government of Navotas has once again received the highest audit rating from the Commission on Audit (COA).

The agency gave an “unmodified opinion” on the city’s presentation of its 2019 financial statements.

Navotas has received the same rating for five consecutive years now, the only local government in Metro Manila to have such record.

“We are happy and grateful to receive such great news. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, this citation serves to bring us renewed hope and cheer,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

“We thank and laud everyone–all departments and offices–who worked hard for us to achieve this. May we continue to uphold the highest standards of public service and always give our best for the benefit of our people,” he added.

COA gives an “unmodified opinion” to a public institution that has presented its financial position, financial performance and cash flows in a fair manner and in accordance with the Philippine Public Sector Accounting Standards.

In February this year, Navotas also passed the 2019 Good Financial Housekeeping standards of the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

The GFH is a component of the Seal of Good Local Governance, DILG’s highest and most coveted award.
