Amid reports of an increased incidence of domestic violence during lockdown brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Quezon City government has reopened its protection center.

Mayor Joy Belmonte said the protection facility would begin to accept walk-in clients this week, particularly women, children, and members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community who have experienced violence and harassment.

The center located within the Quezon City General Hospital compound in Barangay Bahay Toro was temporarily shut down by the city government due to the pandemic.

It continued to perform its mandate by accepting inquiries and complaints through its e-mail—quezoncityprotectioncenter@gmail.com, social media account and through hotline 122 for immediate action.
