Manila nurses elect new set of officers

The Manila Health Department Nurses’ Association recently held its elections and voted in a new set of officers to lead the organization.

Michael Sam C. Lu, RN, of the City Government Employee’s Clinic, in the central office, was elected as president of the organization.

The other officers elected are Juan Miguel DLR. De Jesus, RN, of District 3, vice president; Christian Jade U. Maceda, RN, of District 6, secretary; Rona Meara L. Suarez, RN, District 2, assistant secretary; Jennifer M. David, RN, District 6, treasurer; Lolita L. Unico, RN, District 5, assistant treasurer; and Nanette L. Padua, RN, District 4, auditor.

Elected as public relations officers were Marivic P. Bagallon, RN, Family Planning, and Lorda May C. Delima, RN, District 5.

Elected as board members were Christine Mary A. Bernal, RN, District 3; Krysette Joy P. Brey, RN, District 1; Maria Lourdes P. Handa, RN, School Health;  Maria Elizabeth DG. Lopez, RN, School Health;  Ma. Rafaela M. Lu, RN, District 2; Jennifer V. Tan, RN, District 1; and Myrna M. Velasco, RN, District 4.

For the Central Office in Manila City Hall, elected as president of the MHD Nurses Association was Marivic P. Bagallon, RN.

Others elected were Michael Sam C. Lu, RN, vice president; Marie Claudio, RN, secretary; Katrina Natividad, RN, assistant secretary; Susan G. Belisario, RN, treasurer; and Jackie Sevilla, RN, assistant treasurer.

MHD Acting City Health Officer Dr. Arnold Pangan, MD, RSW, congratulated the elected officers.

The election was conducted on January 8 at the Nursing Division office, MHD, Manila City Hall.

The Manila Health Department Nurses’ Association is an independent body created in October 1967. The association is guided by social, cultural, civic, professional, non-political, and non-sectarian principles.

All members and officers of the association are also part of the Manila Health Department’s Division of Nursing, extending medical services in the city.
