Authorities are investigating the case of a man who died after he reportedly jumped off the fifth floor of the Starmall Shopping Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa City on Sunday night.
Pete Anthony Ventura, a resident of 1028 Hermosora Street, Barangay 200, Tondo, Manila, died on the spot due to severe head and body injuries.
Reports released by the Southern Police District showed that Ventura jumped to his death at the ground floor of Starmall around 7:10 p.m.
Roselyn dela Marquez, a sales lady and resident of Sampaguita Street, Magmanlac Apartment, Las Piñas City, said while she was manning her stall, she heard a loud sound and was surprised upon seeing a man lying on the floor.
Ventura was wearing a black shirt, blue basketball shorts, and slippers.
Footage from the mall’s closed circuit television cameras, according to the SPD report, corroborated Dela Marquez’s story.
The CCTV showed that Ventura “jumped off from the fifth floor inside the Starmall building, and as a result the victim sustained injuries which caused his instantaneous death,” the police report added.
The Muntinlupa City Police Station is investigating the case and is not discounting suicide.
