The Makati City government is implementing a traffic rerouting scheme affecting major roads going to and from Bonifacio Global City and Pateros to give way for the proclamation rally of Mayor Abigail Binay and former Vice President Jejomar Binay, and their team running this coming May elections.

“Mayor Abby Binay will lead the proclamation rally of Team Performance candidates on March 29, 2019, Friday, from 3pm onwards at the stretch of Lawton Avenue from Kalayaan Avenue to J.P. Rizal Extension in Barangay Northside, Makati City,” said City Information and Community Relations Department chief Romulo Salgado Jr., in an advisory.

Salgado said the city’s Public Safety Department advised motorists to take the following alternative routes due to the closure of Lawton Avenue from 7am on March 28 to 6 a.m. on March 30.

For Vehicles going to Bonifacio Global City:

From J.P. Rizal Street (area of East Rembo and West Rembo), motorists were advised to take Sgt. Fabian Yabut Street in Guadalupe Nuevo towards Kalayaan Avenue. Make a U-turn at the corner of Epifanio de los Santos Avenue / Kalayaan Avenue and turn right to the 32nd Street towards destination.

Those coming from Barangays Poblacion and Guadalupe Viejo must take right to West Cloverleaf to EDSA Southbound, then, turn left to McKinley Avenue to destination.

From EDSA-Mandaluyong, head straight to EDSA-Ayala Avenue Intersection then turn left to McKinley Street to destination.

For vehicles going to Guadalupe (along J.P. Rizal Avenue Extension), from Pateros, turn left at the Kalayaan/Buting Intersection, then, turn right to Sgt. Fabian Yabut circle and follow the usual route to destination.

Salgado said traffic enforcers were deployed to assist motorists.

Mayor Binay is seeking a second term as mayor of Makati while his father Jejomar Binay, also a former mayor and Vice President, is running to represent the city’s first district in the House of Representatives in the midterm elections.

The incumbent mayor is going against her brother former mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr. while Jejomar Sr., is running against Romulo “Kid” Pena Jr.

On Tuesday, Mayor Binay led the signing of a Peace Covenant and Walk for Peace at the University of Makati (UMak) in connection with the May polls.

The elder Binay is part of Mayor Abby’s “Team Performance” which also includes re-electionist Vice Mayor Monique Lagdameo, and re-electionist 2nd District Representative Luis Campos.

Members of the Team Performance include 1st District Councilors Virgilio “Jhong” Hilario, Luis “Jojo” Javier, Martin Arenas, Carmina Ortega, Armando Padilla, Rene “Rebo” Saguisag, Jose “Joey” Villena, and Alcina “Alcine” Yabut; and 2nd District Councilors Dennis Almario, Maria Dolores “Doris” Arayon, Benedict “Bodik” Baniqued, Joel “Bong” Ariones, Arnold “Sammy” Cruz, Ives Ebrada, Edralyn “Ed” Marquez, and Kristina “Ina” Sarosa.

Mayor Binay appealed to all candidates, especially their political opponents, not to resort to scare tactics or spreading false information to confuse the public.

She said that while politics can get dirty, it does not have to hamper the delivery of social services and benefits due to the people of Makati.
