The Land Transportation Office will set up a kiosk at the Quezon City Hall where registered drivers can have their five-year driver’s license cards printed at the main lobby of the Quezon City Hall beginning Wednesday up to Friday.
The LTO kiosk to be set up at the Human Resources Department training room on the 5th floor of the Quezon City Hall will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“The LTO is now ready to process and print driver’s license cards with five-year validity, including the 1.2 million paper license backlogs in the National Capital Region that accumulated since we started giving the five-years validity in October 2016,” LTO regional director Clarence V. Guinto said in a letter to Mayor Herbert Bautista.
LTO offices in Metro Manila have extended their operating hours from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily to address its backlog along with the current renewal and new applications for driver’s licenses and other transactions.
Meanwhile, Mayor Bautista publicly lauded the dedication to duty of a traffic enforcer who chased a delivery van on foot after its driver violated regulations as well as the tricycle driver who came to his aid.
Bautista extended a personal invitation to Ernesto Martin of the Department of Public Order and Safety and tricycle driver Jonel Armada to be his special guests in his 8th State of the City Address.
Setting aside his prepared speech, Mayor Bautista narrated how the duo managed to catch up with the van in a chase that started at East Avenue and ended in Malakas Street.
The delivery van had been loaded with 6,500 kilos of merchandise, violating the truck van weight limit of 4,500 kilos. Video of the incident went viral on social media and became more popular after it was aired on television.
Martin, who has been with the QC DPOS for one year, and Armada met the Mayor in his office after the SOCA. Martin was thankful for the recognition.
